The Need for Angelic Wisdom and Understanding:

“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?”  (Hebrews 1:14, New King James Version ).

This is the key Bible verse for the “Come and See” devotional today.

In modern times, the subject of the ministry of angels often seems strange to us, but this was not the case with the Apostles as we read in the bible.  They were very familiar with the ministry of angels and made great use of their service. Although we are supposed to carry on from where the Apostles ended their work as revealed in the New Testament, up till now we still ignore these reliable helpers.

The Bible records that Apostle Peter was rescued from prison by the angel of the Lord and it also gives an account of the tongue-lashing suffered by a young girl called Rhoda. This was the way they responded when she told them of Peter’s arrival: “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.”(Acts 12:15, New International Version). They were accustomed with Angelic beings.

The angels of God know much about the unknown but this is not only because they are spirits. They are also experienced in those affairs of God that they are deployed to handle in real life.  While acknowledging the wisdom of King David, the wise woman of Tekoa said: “but my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of the angel of God, to know everything that is in the earth.” (2 Samuel 14:20b, New King James Version). This suggests that angels are not in any way limited by our ignorance and are of superior intellectual abilities.

We read of the extraordinary exploits of Daniel who was a man of many secrets and wiser than anybody else in his days. He revealed and interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Also, he deciphered the message written on the wall and was given the strange title of “Master of the Magicians” (Daniel 4.9).

However, Daniel was well acquainted with the ministry of angels. While praying to God in relation to the Prophecy of Seventy Weeks in the book of Daniel 9 verses 20-27, the secret of Daniel’s skills was revealed as follows: “yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering.  And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand.” (Daniel 9:21-22, New King James Version).

Most of all, we all need wisdom and understanding to ensure our continuous success in life. It is very unwise to start any process of problem-solving without asking for the wise guidance of angels. We read in Proverbs 24:6 (New King James Version): “for by wise counsel you will wage your own war, and in a multitude of counsellors there is safety.” With the help of angels at our disposal, we will never lack direction at any life’s crossroads.

Let us pray: “Father, I thank You for the provision of angels for my guidance. I pray my angels to beam light upon my darkness and reveal the secrets I need to know for my victory,” in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
