The Price for Power (I)
“Say to God, ‘How awesome are your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You’.” (Psalm 66:3, New King James Version).
This is the key Bible verse for the “Come and See” devotional today.
This key Bible verse suggests that if enemies of the Almighty God submit themselves to Him because He has greater power, then our victory over life’s problems is determined only by the amount of power we possess.
Note that it is only the love of God that is free: there is a price to be paid to possess His ultimate power. The question is what must we do to possess Godlike power? The first price to pay in order to access the unfailing power of God is to know the source of real power. After the resurrection of Jesus Christ, He made an explicit declaration pertaining to the custodian of power. As we read in Matthew 28:18 (Amplified Bible): “Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, ALL authority [all power of rule] in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” He took all the available power after His death and resurrection.
We know that there are no loose or casual words with God because He chooses His words carefully. In Matthew 28.18 above, we note that Jesus said “ALL power” and nothing could be more explicit than this truth. Logically, after all the power has been taken by someone, then there is nothing left. Similarly, Romans 13:1 (King James Version) reiterated this most important truth as follows: “let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
The knowledge that all power belongs to God helps us to focus and so we will not waste time looking for power somewhere else. It also enables us to embrace what it takes to possess this ultimate power. This message is very important and remains the foundation of our faith. We cannot triumph over the devil and his fallen desolate angels without this truth being engraved in our hearts. It gives us a huge advantage in any of our battles in life. To illustrate this, Proverbs 24:5 (Amplified Bible) states: “a wise man is strong and is better than a strong man and a man of knowledge increases and strengthens his power.”
Naturally, anybody feels confident when about to engage in a conflict or battle with an opponent known to be weaker. This is how a fully armed soldier feels when confronted by a defenceless opponent. Knowledge is power even in spiritual warfare and by knowing who has the final say in every situation of life you will be in control at all times. “The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies”- Psalm 110:2, King James Version
Let us pray: “Father, I receive grace to fulfil divine conditions required to access your unfailing power,” in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
