Frustrating the Plans of the Enemy (I):
“He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans.” (Job 5:12, New King James Version).
This is the key Bible verse for our “Come and See” devotional today.
Conflict is inevitable in both the spiritual and physical realms of life: there are no neutral zones. Also, every war is fought with weapons, but victory is determined by several factors such as the power or efficacy of the armament, the might and bravery of the soldiers and the suitability of the strategy deployed against the opponent. The Bible states: “the Lord is a man of war; The Lord is His name.” (Exodus 15 verse 3, New King James Version). God has never lost a battle and one of the ways He ensures that victory is delivered to His people is to ensure that the weapons of the enemy are ineffective.
The gathering of the enemy against one’s destiny and purpose should not come as a surprise because the enemy are merely acting in accordance with what has been written concerning you. The Bible states: “indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. whosoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.” (Isaiah 54 verse 15, New King James Version). This declaration undoubtedly shows that every assembly of the enemy against you will with assurance be followed by their downfall.
The word ‘whosoever’ in the previous citation of Isaiah is not a mistake, since God is no respecter of persons. The word was intended to cover anyone conspiring against your destiny, regardless of whether they are men, women or spirits. God is committed to making sure that every arrow fired against you loses its potency. Moreover, God has also given us all the power to nullify every tongue that speaks evil into our lives. Thus: “no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn …” (Isaiah 54 verse 17, New King James Version).
We know that human beings are the only variable factors that might affect the fulfilment of God’s promises in our lives. With Him, there is no variation and He does not change because He is constant in mercy, power, honour, and integrity. God is always committed to fulfilling our destinies but He will only frustrate the plans of our enemies if they are His enemies as well. This suggest that we must share the same foes as God for victory to be guaranteed. “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” -Romans 8 verse 31, New International Version
For as long as we are on the Lord’s side, we remain invincible against the enemies and their plans against us amount to nothing. The Bible again asserts: “devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” (Isaiah 8 verse 10, New International Version).
Let us pray: “Father, by your unfailing power and mercy, let every counsel against me come to nothing,” in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
