God’s Untouchables (part I)

“Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.” (Psalm 105:15, New King James Version).

This is the key Bible verse for the “Come and See” devotional today.

The knowledge of who we are in Christ Jesus is the greatest discovery we could make and is more valuable than all the treasures of this world. Why? This knowledge holds the key to our sustained freedom. It also provides other priceless benefits such as enduring peace and self-confidence in God.

Shortly before Jesus Christ was delivered to be crucified for the salvation of mankind, He made a very heartfelt plea to the Almighty God pertaining to all of us (read John 17). He asked for a special divine consideration to be given to anyone who will believe in Him. “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of this world.” (John 17:15-16, New King James Version).

God placed a special mark on His creation and this is the hallmark of diversity: no two individuals are the same even when they appear to share similarities such as physical appearance and societal features such as culture. Every one of us is unique and this applies to your new identity in Christ Jesus: “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away: behold all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, New King James Version).

In response to the prayers of Jesus Christ, God is committed to the welfare of every one of us and this includes our safety and protection from all kinds of evil. As suggested by our key Bible verse for this devotional, there is a divine decree defending our lives. This declaration attracts severe punishment for any violators, irrespective of their position or reasons for acting the way they did.

The abiding presence of the Spirit of God makes every one of us special and risky to hurt by anyone. This is the anointing of God upon our lives. No wonder the Lord warns in Zechariah 2:8 (English Standard Version): “for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye”. This truth is reiterated in Romans 8:33 (New King James Version): “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.”

It is important for us to be conscious of this special provision of God and His assurances to defend us against all our adversaries. This knowledge helps creates a superior confidence of victory over whatever is causing us grief such as sicknesses, harassment etc. We must bring all our troubles to the presence of God, bearing in mind His promises to always protect us from harm. There is no reason strong or genuine enough for anyone to cause you pain because you are a child of God through Jesus Christ. Psalms 82:6- New King James Version says “ I said ,”You are gods ,and all of you are children of the Most High”

Let us pray: “Father, by your mercy, fight my cause with those who strive with me and fight against those who contest against me,” in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
