Smooth Paths (III):

“For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands!” (Isaiah 55:12, New American Standard Bible).

This is the key Bible verse for the “Come and See” devotional today.

The two previous sections of this message showed that it is unsafe to conduct any venture without the presence of the Most High. Whenever we start with sadness in our hearts, we drive away the company of the divine which is needed to help us overcome obstacles in our way. The Holy habitation of God is a joyful environment which requires praise from a thankful heart. The Bible states: “but let the righteous be glad; Let them rejoice before God; Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly.” (Psalm 68:3, New King James Version).

Today is more than just an ordinary day: it is a chance to undo the ills of yesterday. Every new day is a continuation of God’s creation to ensure that we are one step closer to the realisation of our desires. This truth should be enough to cause continuous joy in your hearts. King David said: “this is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24, New King James Version).

PEACE is another crucial companion that we need to ensure that the mountains and hills break forth into testimonies as we carry on in the quest for the fulfilment of our destiny. In his last days on earth, Jesus Christ said: “peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27, New International Version). In his letters to the early church in the City of Philippi, Apostle Paul prayed about the need for believers to be at peace, saying: “and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7, New International Version).

The message given by Moses to the Israelites, at the crossing of Red Sea, was for them to remain calm. Moses said: “the Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14, New King James Version).  They heeded his words and were led safely across the Red Sea. The Bible states: “but the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.” (Exodus 14:29, New King James Version).

We must be at peace at all times concerning the faithfulness of God. The degree of peace we have indicates our measure of faith in the power of God to save and deliver. Always be at peace to allow God to take over your battles and surmount all hills obstructing your destiny. The sheep is always at peace when led by the shepherd. May the peace of God fill your heart!

Let us pray: “Father, I receive your grace to be at peace with your words always. By your power make my mountains flat,” in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
