The Blood Advantage (I):

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” (Leviticus 17:11, New King James Version).

This is the key Bible verse for the Come and See devotional today.

There is something extraordinary about blood. It is the platform for the purification of the air we breathe and serves as an effective protection against all forms of diseases. These facts confirm that indeed, the “Life of the Flesh is in the blood,” as mentioned in our key Bible verse, above. In this devotional, we shall be looking at the spiritual advantage associated with the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

The importance of human blood cannot be overemphasised. For instance, when the resentful Cain killed his brother Abel, he thought this deed had gone undetected but he was utterly wrong (see Genesis 4). For the first time, a hidden advantage in the blood of human beings was revealed: thus, the blood of Abel cried unto God for vengeance against Cain and the Lord heard him. God then replied to the audacious response of Cain regarding his brother’s whereabouts as follows: “and He said, ‘What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.’” (Genesis 4:10, New King James Version).

Cain was duly punished since there is no defence that can prevail over the petition of the Blood. We should also realise that there is Blood even more powerful than that of Abel. It is strong enough to rescue anyone from the pit of destruction and bring them to safety. This Blood gives the True Life of God and sustains it in one’s walk with Christ. In the Bible we read: “as for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.” (Zechariah 9:11, New King James Version). There is huge advantage and power in the Blood of Jesus.

In Hebrews 12:24 (New King James Version) we read: “to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant and to the Blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel”. Thus, the Blood of Jesus speaks too, and it speaks powerfully against our known and unknown adversaries. That Blood speaks on our behalf every day to meet every form of need, in good time: for example our needs for freedom, deliverance, peace or victory.

This is our advantage over every person who stands against us in judgment. No matter how high those negative voices may rise against us in the battles of life, they cannot overcome the Blood of Jesus because that Blood is so potent. Jesus Christ willingly shed His Blood for our salvation and he sits at the right hand of God, making intercession through His Blood on our behalf. Nothing can be higher than the Most High!

Let us pray: “Father, Let the Blood of Jesus negate every voice speaking against my destiny,” in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
